year ago this month, we launched this newsmagazine
you now hold in your hands.
We were on a mission to bring
positive and heartwarming stories
about the homeland to kababayans
who live and work abroad. Our
ultimate goal was to encourage
you,
dear readers, to come home and have a look at how much better we now are back
home. And even if you disagreed with the “better” part, we still
wanted you to take more frequent trips back to the Philippines. Certainly to
spend some of that foreign currency you sacrificed a lot to earn, but also
to spend it well. We hoped you would be persuaded to invest in a business back
home.
Or in a nice little property. Or donate to a charity of your liking.
If it were hard to part with what was hard-earned, we hoped to get you to invest
your time instead to deeds and little pleasures back home. Long missed homecomings?
Check. Volunteer work for an advocacy close to your heart? Double check.
We are still in the process
of accomplishing our long-term
goals. And only you can tell
us if we’ve succeeded.
But in the short-term, we would like to state with certainty that ONE PHILIPPINES
has done its bit in entertaining you. And perhaps, provoking a strong reaction
or two.
For a publication that’s given free of charge, we bend backwards to bring
you exclusive features that often appear only in paid publications. And we have
been encouraged by your feedback. We hold dear stories of Pinoys who assign someone
to periodically check the Asian stores to make sure they secure the new issue
of ONE PHILIPPINES. We are overjoyed to receive your mail and are encouraged
by reader’s contributions to our pages.
With every issue, we feel like we are turning ONE PHILIPPINES into the kind of
publication you would like to keep or share with your family and friends.
