through the Philippine National Disaster Coordinating
Council
President
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared a state
of national calamity. She authorized the release
of PhP 1.0 Billion to fund relief and rehabilitation
efforts sustained from the onslaught of Typhoons
Milenyo (Xangsane), Paeng (Cimarron) and Reming
(Durian). With this declaration, the Philippine
Government shall be accepting offers of assistance
from foreign governments, aid agencies and the
United Nations. The National Disaster Coordinating
Council (NDCC) will coordinate national and international
efforts to respond to this calamity that once
again struck the Philippines.
